We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Data Steward and Governance Specialist to join our dynamic team.

The Data Steward and Governance role contributes significantly to Build-A-Bear by ensuring the quality, integrity, and security of our data assets. Additionally, this role ensures data is accurate, consistent, and compliant with regulations. By implementing strong data governance practices, you will support the organization's data-driven decision-making and overall operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Data Governance Frameworks: Create and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures that ensure data integrity across the organization

Data Accuracy and Compliance: Oversee processes to ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and compliant with relevant regulations and internal policies

Data Quality Management: Monitor and manage data quality metrics, conducting regular assessments to maintain high standards of data reliability

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with different business units to meet data governance objectives and ensure adherence to governance standards

Data Ownership and Accountability: Define and enforce data ownership roles, ensuring clarity and accountability for data across the organization

Metadata and Data Lineage Management: Implement and oversee proper classification, metadata management, and data lineage tracking to maintain transparency and control over data

Data Protection and Compliance: Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, conducting regular audits and assessments to safeguard sensitive information

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of ten years of experience in data management

Bachelor's degree Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field

Skilled in Data Governance tools and practices, Data Quality management and Data Cataloging

Basic knowledge of databases, SQL, Power BI, and Purview

Skilled in analytical reporting and able to interpret and present data effectively.

referred Qualifications:

Master's degree Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field

Professional certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional), or **DGSP (Data Governance and Stewardship Professional).

Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards, including HIPAA, Basel III, and others that may affect data management practices.

Typical office environment with climate control and sufficient lighting, ergonomic desk/chairs

Hybrid work schedule

Corporate Office located St. Louis, MO

Some domestic travel may be required to collaborate with teams or attend relevant conferences and training
