DESCRIPTIONMichael Baker is seeking a Water Resources Engineer who will assist Project Managers with tasks including data review, site review, data analysis, civil engineering planning and design. The Water Resources Engineer will prepare hydrological & hydraulic calculations and modeling, and assist with the preparation of technical reports, technical exhibits, and design drawings. This role will expose the engineer to a wide range of interesting applications under the supervision of experts and industry leaders in Water Resource Engineering.RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare and review design calculations for storm sewer, grading, and other stormwater drainage infrastructurePrepare and review drainage studies including existing and proposed drainage plans, hydraulic reports, and technical memorandaPrepare engineering plans and specifications for drainage facilities including storm sewers, culverts, detention ponds, erosion control, and water quality facilitiesDevelop and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic modelsDevelop models to assess pipe hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, scour, and floodplain impactsWork with other departments, clients, vendors, project managers, and project engineers to support production of project deliverablesPrepare documentation required by regulatory agencies to obtain permitsAssist with development of cost and fee estimatesCommunicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (cost estimators, GIS, designers, and other technical staff in and outside Michael Baker).Coordination with internal and external partners in organizational leadership initiativesPROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in civil engineering or related Engineering degreeEngineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) is required0-3 years of experience in related water resources designMust demonstrate excellent speaking, oral and written communication skillsProficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.Experience with Bentley OpenRoads is preferred. Experience with AutoCAD is a plusExperience with HydroCAD and HEC-RAS modeling are a plusProject experience with roadway drainage design in the state of Minnesota is a plusCOMPENSATIONThe compensation range for this position is $68,000 - $78,000 annually.
