The Tesla Energy Applications team is looking for a passionate engineer to help Tesla facilitate the world's transition to sustainable energy.As a key technical member of the cross-functional Applications Engineering team within the Energy Projects group, you will be critical to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy by helping integrate renewable generation and battery storage into utility power systems and off-grid facilities.
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise on industrial control interfaces and communication protocols for the implementation of new features in Tesla's commercial and utility storage offeringAdvise, scope and support development of monitoring and control interfaces features for utility and commercial/industrial battery projectsCollect input from a diverse group of stakeholders (customer, sales, service, firmware, hardware, etc.) and distill into clear requirement for software and firmware development teamsDrive internal validation and field pilots for newly developed featuresWork closely with software development teams to resolve any issues that arise during implementationDevelop tools to facilitate scaling of Tesla's commercial and utility energy storage deploymentsDevelop internal and external technical documentation to educate customers and adjacent teams about newly deployed functionalitiesCreate tools and trainings that empower Tesla technical support and service teams to troubleshoot issues related to subject matter expertiseSupport assessment of new applications relating to subject matter expertise that arise in the sales processRequirements
Degree in an Engineering discipline and at least two years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional abilityExperience with SCADA communication protocols and computer interfaces: e.g. Modbus, DNP3Demonstrated application of analysis, design, and testing to solve complex engineering problemsStrong knowledge of engineering fundamentals - mechanical, electrical, and thermal - is expectedKnowledge of at least one relevant programming language: Rust, Golang, Python, etcTechnical and hands on experience with battery storage systems and PV invertersEnergy industry experience with generation monitoring and control is a plusBesides a rock-solid work ethic and a strong team-oriented personality, members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology landscapeCompensation and BenefitsBenefits

$104,000 - $222,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
