Jhpiego is seeking a Development Associate to increase Jhpiego’s reach by supporting signature events, assisting donor stewardship and outreach efforts, ensuring data integrity and moves management, and demonstrating departmental success through reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities:
Event Coordination
Support the planning and execution of key development activities, like Jhpiego’s annual gala, cultivation and small fundraising events, Miles for Mothers campaign, advisory board meetings, and VIP trips
Research logistics and costs associated with event vendors and distributors
Prepare and manage requests for proposals (RFPs) from event vendors and distributors
Request gifts in-kind to support events
Help to secure and manage volunteers for events
Track and manage special event registrations, guest lists, and contributions
Manage expense reimbursement process for front-line fundraisers
Collaborate with procurement specialists to prepare timely fulfilment of invoices related to fundraising events
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
Reinforce Jhpiego’s donor-centric culture through thoughtful and timely constituent engagement and stewardship
Prepare and submit applications for new charitable partnerships to grow Jhpiego’s brand, footprint, and fundraising capacity
Assist in the development of corporate sponsorship proposals
Support donor retention, renewal, and acquisition
Prepare and submit gift requests for select new and existing foundation and corporate partners
Draft stewardship reports for select major gift donors
Utilize Jhpiego’s peer-to-peer fundraising software, Team Raiser, to support friend-raising efforts and new donor acquisition
Initiate check processing procedure upon receipt and draft gift acknowledgement mailings
Ensure timely and accurate donor acknowledgement and receipt of gifts
Manage year-end summary receipting and reporting.
Database Management
Maintain development team commitment to data integrity, understanding and education, and adherence to data protocols and standards
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and promptness of gift receiving, copying, and gift entry, preparing deposit, and disseminating a daily report of gifts received
Enter and monitor actions and next steps for front-line fundraiser in Raiser’s Edge NXT to support overall fundraising efforts
Create and update constituent records and populate biographic data for new donors and prospects in the database.
Maintain accurate and detailed donor and gift entry into the database and subsequent reports
Maintain and update a system and gift processing manual to ensure alignment with the protocols
Ensure timely recording and acknowledgment of cash receipts, stock, bequests, and in-kind gifts, with accurate coding. Maintain confidentiality of constituents’ information
Research & Reporting
Leverage donor research tools to identify major gift potential among new prospects/donors
Develop briefings and face books for events, donor and prospect meetings
Source new data to input into Raiser’s Edge from various research tools and public records
Assist in developing meeting briefings and donor research profiles
Assist in monitoring fundraiser pipelines and reporting documents.
Generate mailing and email lists as needed by the department to support outreach initiatives.
Prepare reports for meetings with the Advisory Board, Development Committee and the VP of Global Engagement and Communications as requested.
Special Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent writing, design, editorial and verbal communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities
Strong ability to understand a variety of CRMs and various related software.
Ability to multitask and prioritize requests from multiple sources
Experience developing reports and analysing data
Microsoft Excel capabilities and experience with other Microsoft Office programs (Word, Teams, Outlook)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Two years related experience.
Additional graduate level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience in a global health, international development, or nonprofit setting.
Experience with Blackbaud products like Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online
Experience leveraging donor research tools and recognizing donor potential
