The Maine Center for Research in STEM Education (RiSE Center) is an interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Research Center located at the University of Maine. Its mission is to advance the research and practice of teaching and learning in the STEM disciplines. The Center brings together STEM faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate students, PK-12 teachers , and collaborators to conduct education research, provide evidence-based, professional learning experiences, and coordinate programs to improve STEM education at all levels of instruction. The Maine STEM Partnership at the RiSE Center is a statewide research-practice partnership to improve STEM education at all levels, PK-16+.

This position manages day-to-day operations and provides leadership for the Maine STEM Partnership at the RiSE Center (Partnership) and additional RiSE program teams and leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning and resources coordination for the Partnership and its projects. The position leads the development of high quality internal and external communications for the Partnership and prepares reports related to the Partnership’s work. In addition, the position oversees the coordination of programs within the RiSE and supervises professional staff and students who are part of those programs. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $67,000 to $71,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

BS or BA and a Master’s degree or equivalent in a science, teaching, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline or in STEM education, or equivalent.

Previous successful experience coordinating professional learning and managing complex and multifaceted projects.

Demonstrated effectiveness as a STEM educator and evidence of in-depth understanding of science and/or mathematics concepts taught in standards-based instruction.

Preferred:

Proficient with technology, including Google and its app suite, and able to support teachers in using technology in their classrooms.

Exceptionally strong organizational abilities and written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Familiarity with discipline-based education research and guided inquiry instruction in STEM.

Experience with fundraising and development.
