**Must-Have:** Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips; Ability to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, and Heparin.
**Job Description:**
- The Intermediate Care Unit consists of 30 beds, with 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms.- Desired nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, but typically runs at 1:5, with occasional 1:6.- Charge nurses handle full patient assignments during both day and night shifts.- Clinical assistants work two 12-hour shifts with patient assignments and two 8-hour shifts in the office.- Typically, two to three CNAs handle ratios of 1:10-12.- Weekend requirements include four shifts over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday within a four-week schedule.- Shift schedules run from 7a to 7p with self-scheduling options allowed to meet unit needs, permitting four requested days off per month.- Staff may float as needed to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units with ratios up to 1:6 or occasionally 1:7.- Comprehensive respiratory support is managed by RTs, including AirVo and Respironics equipment.- Full IV and PICC/Midline teams provide 24/7 coverage for IV starts.- The first day of orientation includes four hours with HR and eight hours on the unit with a preceptor, followed by additional on-unit guidance on the second day.- Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, and management post-pacer and pre/post-caths.- Navy blue scrub attire is required for RNs.- Flexible with holiday coverage, usually managed by permanent staff.- The charting system used is Allscripts - Sunrise.
