What You'll Be Doing
JOB PURPOSE:
The Director of Banquets is responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet operations both within the hotel and for off premises catering. The position will oversee the management, operation, and strategic plan of the department with special attention on the guest experience, staff retention, continuous improvement, operational efficiencies and quality standards. Position will lead a team of Banquet Managers, Supervisors, Team Leads, Servers, Set-Up Staff, and Bartenders.
Evaluate and maintain the highest guest service standards ensuring satisfaction to create retention and growth of business through referrals and repeat events. Lead, Empower, Coach and Motivate the department towards creating exceptional experiences for guests and a culture of joy for the team Manage the operations budget and adjust expenditures in line with revenues. Support senior leadership in developing and executing the annual business plan and long term strategies for banquet operations with focus on service excellence, staff retention, and financial profitability. Ensure that regular, effective and timely communication is happening in all areas of banquet operations. Responsible for proactively reviewing staffing and equipment needs of the department to execute future events. Oversees the execution of event logistics for all events, both on property and off property. Champion all standards, policies and procedures in the Banquet Operations departments and regularly reviews for efficiency. Establish and monitor measurable goals for the department. Spend sufficient enough time on the floor to observe and collect data to improve daily service and culture. Work with direct reports to
Review scheduled events to identify group wow opportunities and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts. Ensure function space and corresponding back of the house areas are cleaned and maintained. Ensure furniture and equipment is maintained and inventory levels are kept in accordance to corporate guidelines. Meet Key Performance Indicators
Collaborate with Department Leaders to support the mission and vision of Greenleaf Hospitality Group. Qualifications
What You Need for this Position
Minimum 3 years leadership experience in the event or food and beverage industry required. Experience and success in leading, supervising, team building, and motivating staff. Full Time Management Position that requires full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends, evening, holidays and a varied schedule based on business needs. A passion for understanding and anticipating the needs of others in a fast paced environment. Must possess the following strengths: high sense of urgency, values driven, motivational leadership, effective communicator, strong developer and trainer, highly organized balanced with ability to adapt to changing circumstances, desire to continuously improve with a big picture perspective Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal Experience at a high volume event property and with off premises catering preferred Able to stand for long periods of time, up to 10 hours or more Able to stoop and bend Able to lift up to 40 pounds from time to time Able to safely work with potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment Able to comply with safety and health code standards Able to handle responsibilities that require repetitive motion tasks What's in it for You
