The College Community School District is seeking a customer service oriented, student-centered, and experienced candidate to serve as theDirector of Building and Groundsbeginning no later than July 1, 2025. College Community School District is a growing district serving over 5,700 students in the Cedar Rapids - Iowa City Corridor. College Community employs over 1100 high quality teachers, support personnel and administrators at 10 school sites, two program sites and a central bus/maintenance facility. College Community has an annual general operating budget of $77M and has recently completed a 10-year facilities plan including the renovation of the high school and three elementary schools; new construction of an intermediate school, early childhood center and agricultural education facility; renovations to former intermediate school in order to open a 9th grade center and choice alternative high school site. Currently, the District is in the process of building a District-owned, YMCA-run recreation facility supported by a 2023 $43M referendum and financial support from the City of Cedar Rapids that is slated for completion in Spring of 2026.Previous experience in a variety of maintenance and operations fields is required. This includes the ability to read blueprints, operating instructions and use computer software/hardware to coordinate electronic information and reports as well as demonstrate an aptitude of mechanical, electrical and building maintenance skills. In addition, the selected candidate will also demonstrate an aptitude of electronic energy management and electronic security systems management and an aptitude to oversee construction and remodeling projects and demonstrated successful completion of responsibilities assigned. Must be able to obtain the (AHERA)Operation and Maintenance Worker Certificationupon hire.
The candidate will be expected to begin this position no later than July 1, 2025.
Terms of Employment: 12-month year.
