Handel Architects is an award-winning Architecture and Interior Design firm dedicated to design excellence. Our Interior Design Studio focuses on creating innovative, hospitality-inspired environments for multi-family residential and amenity spaces, from high-end luxury to market rate. We collaborate closely with both in-house and third-party architects, fostering a culture of open design dialogue and collaboration. Our San Francisco office operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office work Monday-Thursday and remote-optional work on Fridays.We are seeking a Senior Interior Designer with strong design and technical skills to lead and develop a variety of residential and hospitality projects within and outside of the firm. You will generate and carry out design concepts, helping take projects from the storyboard to completion.We provide opportunity for those who are highly ambitious, inquisitive, and proactive. Designers in our studio play a key role in advancing design, actively engaging in projects, and building strong relationships with team members, consultants, and clients.QualificationsBachelor’s or Professional degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture6+ years of experience in all phases of interior and architectural projects, with required multi-family residential unit, lobby, and amenity experienceNCIDQ certification preferredProficient in space planning, design processes, developing concept imagery, preparing finish selections, furniture layouts, and FF&E selections and specificationStrong technical skills in preparing design and construction documentsExcellent graphic, verbal, and written communication skillsHighly organized and collaborativeTakes initiative on responsibilities within the project team, and manages multiple tasks efficientlyProficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, and 3D modeling/rendering tools (SketchUp, Rhino, Grasshopper, V-Ray)Experienced in interior finish specification writing (Excel, SpecSources, or SPEXX)Experienced in construction administration and interior installation, including site visits, RFIs, control samples, shop drawings, and punch listsStrong sensibility for materials, products, and resourcesKnowledge of CA residential building codes requiredResponsibilities:Execute interior design tasks for projects of all sizes across all design phases: space planning, concept, schematic, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, and FF&E Specification and installation.Ensure design concepts are safe, functional, code-compliant, and meet client needs and budgetsCoordinate with consultant teams, including MEP, Structural, Lighting, Landscape, A/V, and contractorsCreate and deliver client presentationsComplete standard deliverables associated with the interior design field, including but not limited to: finish plans, furniture plans, schedules, material selections, technical drawing sets, interior details, and specificationsResearch, source, and specify interior materials, hardware, lighting, appliances, and plumbingOversee library and coordinate with external consultants, product vendors, and material suppliersCompensation and BenefitsSalary range: $100,000 - $112,000, commensurate with experienceHealth Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life)
