Morgan State University (MSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. School of Engineering (SOE). Located in Baltimore, MSU is the preeminent public urban research university in Maryland, providing educational opportunities for state residents, students nationwide, and the international community. As a member of the HBCU community, SOE is committed to providing educational opportunities for people of color.Reporting to Dean Oscar Barton, Jr. and working collaboratively with SOE’s leadership, the chair will define a vision that will chart new areas of opportunity for the department and provide the leadership and entrepreneurial spirit necessary to achieve them. The chair will manage all operations of the department, including its programs, faculty, staff, and budget.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing strategic vision and academic leadership for innovative initiatives;Overseeing excellence within the instructional, service, and research mission of the department;Collaborating with the dean and university administration on policy development;Directing hiring, promotion, and retention of faculty and staff;Guiding the development and oversight of curricula and degree programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards;Managing department resources and participating in fundraising activities;Developing external relationships to support strategic initiatives.
