Job SummaryAs a Wireless Network Engineer, you will be essential in facilitating effective wireless communication and enabling the digital connectivity of the UCSF community across the Health, Education, Research, and Business missions. You will continuously adapt to emerging technologies and industry standards to provide cutting-edge wireless solutions. You will build and maintain the UCSF wireless network, providing network engineering and technical support for wireless network infrastructure, ensuring systems operate at peak efficiency with little to no downtime.
The Wireless Network Engineer will report to the Associate Director, Wired and Wireless. This role is responsible for the daily operational support, maintenance, improvement, documentation, and implementation of all network wireless services under the wired and wireless portfolio. You will ensure IT meets both the current and future network service needs of a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders in administrative and academic units.
This position will positively impact UCSF's operations and culture by ensuring UCSF's IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the UCSF's academic mission.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of experience/training in computer science, engineering, computer information systems, etc.
5-7 years of experience in network services, field services, information technology, or network operations.
Advanced understanding of LAN/WAN and network protocols and wireless monitoring tools.
Experience managing and documenting wireless networks and with RF design and WLAN fundamentals.
Extensive experience troubleshooting wireless networks and designing controller clustering.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and experience working in a project-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of experience in network services, field services, information technology, or network operations.
Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to IT systems.
Experience with Aruba Wireless and ClearPass NAC.
Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment.
License/Certification
CompTIA Network+ Certification or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP) or equivalent.
ITIL V4.
