JMT is currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.JMT's Columbus Highways Team is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPlan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.Perform design computations.Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools; the successful candidate must be proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads 3D Modeling.Develop construction cost estimates.Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction.Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates.Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines.Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals.Prepare proposals as required.Attend meetings with clients.Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality.Nonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assigned.Required SkillsProficient in discipline-specific design software, OpenRoads 3D Modeling and MicroStation.Experience with ODOT design programs as well as other industry-leading engineering software.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Strong written and communication skills.Required ExperienceBachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program.Ohio Professional Engineer License.10 years' experience in specialized discipline.Qualifications PreferredProfessional Engineer License.Experience working with local clients at the county and state level.Working ConditionsWork is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
