As we move deeper into the age of robotics, the impact of motors will only increase.Job DescriptionThe Vice President of Procurement will drive the strategic direction, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of our global supply chain operations. This position is critical to our mission of optimizing procurement strategies, driving cost efficiencies, and enhancing supplier relationships.Responsibilities & DutiesStrategic Leadership:
Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with Nidec Motor Corporation's business objectives. Lead the global procurement team to achieve strategic goals and operational excellence.Supplier Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery of materials and services. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.Cost Optimization:
Implement best practices and innovative approaches to achieve cost savings and improve procurement efficiency. Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and pricing to make data-driven decisions.Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the department.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with other departments, including Finance, Engineering, and Operations, to align procurement strategies with overall business needs and project requirements.Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate procurement risks related to supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and compliance. Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges.Compliance and Governance:
Ensure procurement practices adhere to company policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards. Monitor and enforce compliance with contractual obligations and procurement policies.Performance Metrics:
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement activities. Provide regular reports and insights to the President of Nidec Automation and other senior stakeholders.TravelTravel, both domestic and international, will be required approximately 20%EducationBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.Experience and Qualifications15+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role.Proven track record of managing global procurement functions and driving significant cost savings.Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.Excellent negotiation and contract management abilities.Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and supplier management.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are a plus.LanguagesEnglish required.Spanish is a plus.
