Servier is a privately held leader in oncology dedicated to bringing the promise of tomorrow to the patients we serve.Launched by Servier Group, a unique global organization operating in more than 150 countries and governed by a non-profit foundation, Servier in the U.S. is a privately held Oncology leader and has the resources and network of an established global pharmaceutical company, while operating with the nimble and entrepreneurial spirit of a biotech.Role SummaryThe Associate Director of Internal Controls is the primary leader for all of Servier Pharmaceuticals US internal control matters, with responsibility for establishing and monitoring the internal control environment in support of the accuracy of our financial statements. This role will work closely with key global and local functional teams including Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Tax, IT, and the businesses to ensure our internal control framework is well understood and executed effectively.Primary ResponsibilitiesLeads and directs US internal control activities, working with senior management, functions and regions to ensure compliance with requirements of US GAAP and IFRS.Communicate internal control and audit requirements and provide guidance, education, and training to the US business partners (e.g. control evaluation, assessing control weaknesses, and developing remediation plans) to ensure that control owners understand their roles in complying with the global control framework.Support the Company’s operating effectiveness assessment by testing and/or reviewing the testing of internal controls. Assist with the development of testing requirements and specific test attributes.Interface with the business managers to address questions, jointly identify ongoing efficiency opportunities, and evaluate remediation of deficiencies.Develop and maintain process flowcharts that outline key processes and controls that mitigate financial reporting risks.Support the annual entity-level control review by updating documentation, meeting with control owners and performing management’s testing of key controls.Help drive projects to re-engineer current manual processes and determine where procedures could be automated.Primary liaison with the Company’s internal and external auditors as it relates to internal control matters.Document and update the Company’s internal control activity descriptions and testing attributes for changes in the business, centralization of processes, new accounting pronouncements and other changes as they arise.Stay current on regulatory changes, finance best practices, and world-class controls evaluation techniques to ensure added value to the Company.Help design and document controls surrounding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting processes.Support various controls projects related to the implementation of S4/Hana, working closely with the S4 project team, including the implementation of a new access control and process control for continuous controls monitoring.Support company efforts to automate control execution and control testing.Complete special projects and other control related assignments as required.Leads the planning and execution of new control processes or control remediation plans that have a global impact. Provides guidance and support regarding the development and execution of control deficiency remediation plans at the US level.Primary internal controls liaison during the implementation phase of new software systems, processes, or organizational structures to ensure that impacts to internal controls are properly considered throughout the implementation and when the tool, process or structure is implemented. Ensure that the Company’s internal controls framework is updated accordingly.Manages the quarterly controls deficiency log, which includes evaluating new and open deficiencies, assessing the proper deficiency classification, and interfacing with external auditors to review management’s evaluations and conclusions.Remains current on regulatory changes and internal controls best practices to enhance the Company’s processes.Participates in ad hoc projects as necessary, including internal control-related assignments, review of materials for external meetings or supplemental financial filings, other special projects, etc.Education and Required SkillsA BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and 10 or more years work experience in accounting, finance or internal/external auditing gained in a large corporate setting 5+ years prior experience in one of the following or related areas: US GAAP, SEC reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements, etc.CPA is desirable.Experience in a combination of public accounting and public company environment is preferred.Strong understanding of risk assessment, control analysis, audit procedures, and auditing standards.Experience with manufacturing or similar industry required.Ability to work as part of a team, independently and with colleagues around the world, respecting diversity and cultural differences.Ability to balance the need for compliance and risk mitigation with business practicality and efficiency in mind.Strong oral and written presentation skills and executive presence.Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).Knowledge and experience with internal control testing.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and drive projects forward independently.Strong organizational and workpaper documentation skills.Capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding the big-picture implications.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.Meet objectives through collaborative working style, transparent communication and care in your work and interactions with colleagues.Travel and LocationThis is a Boston based hybrid position.
