* JOB SUMMARY* Provides and coordinates total patient care in in collaboration with patients, families, peers, physicians and other members of the healthcare team for the given population.
* DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
* Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
* Documents assessment and effectiveness and timeliness of care/intervention.
* Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Utilizes organization-wide safe medication practices including, but not limited to the 5 rights of medication administration, barcode scanning and other medication safety processes specific to the unit/department. Knows actions and usual dosage, indications and side effects of medications administered.
* Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant other as needed according to the care, treatment services and identified risks specific to the patient and documents patient and/or family understanding.
* EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS* Minimum requirement:* Graduate from an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurses.* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
* Maintains active RN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and any other states as applicable.
* Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS),
* Achieves and maintains other certifications as required by department:* American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of start and maintains certification.
* Achieves 12 hours of oncology related continuing nursing education annually or achieves and maintains Oncology Nurse Certification (AOCN, BMTCN, CPHON, CPON, CBCN, OCN).
* Preferred qualifications:
* WORKING ENVIRONMENT* Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
* Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.
* Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
* Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
* PHYSICAL DEMANDS* Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
* Frequently required to walk and move about.
* Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
* Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
* Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
* Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
* Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
* Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
* Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
