*CURRENTLY SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR CURRENT OPENINGS*Performs fire suppression and rescue on fire scenes, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, and other emergency or non-emergency incident scenes as a member of a fire rescue team. Provides basic, intermediate and/or advanced life support [ALS] treatment to patients within the scope and level of medical expertise and qualifications. Drives and/or operates emergency vehicles and various specialized equipment such as: extrication, automated external defibrillator, and other associated power tools or highly sophisticated EMS equipment; performs maintenance tasks on various equipment, vehicles, fire station facilities, and station grounds; maintains a clean and ready-state fire station, vehicle and equipment; carries out fire prevention, public educational program initiatives, and other customer service opportunities; plans and executes pre-fire plans and business occupancy life-safety surveys; performs various positions and/or mission tasks within an established incident command system and/or the emergency operation center; maintains certifications, attends, and participates in training sessions, classes, or other professional development.
This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.
STARTING RATE OF PAY: $44,670.00 ANNUALLY PLUS AN ADDITIONAL $4.45 PER HOUR INCENTIVE FOR PARAMEDICS ($12,958.40 ANNUALLY) * ALSO FOR PARAMEDICS - AN ADDITIONAL $8000.00 SIGN ON BONUS (TO BE PAID OUT OVER 3 YEARS) WITH THREE (3) YEAR COMMITTMENT The Office of Fire Rescue's Employment Screening consists of:- Written exam (Single sign on web link provided for a timed test);- Personal interview; - Psychological exam; - NFPA 1582 Physical exam; - New Employee HR onboarding to be completed prior to hire. - Individuals not selected to fill current vacancies may be placed on an eligibility list. As vacant positions become available, individuals on the eligibility list may be contacted for new employee orientation. - This is an open posting for full-time EMT's and Paramedic positions. Special consideration will be given to Paramedics and current Lake County BCC employees who meet minimum qualification requirements and are in good standing with the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires High School Diploma or GED. Vocational/technical training in firefighting or related field or any equivalent education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Requires Incident Command System (National Incident Management System - NIMS), must obtain a current State of Florida Firefighter Minimum Fire Standards Completion and/or Compliance by the completion of the Lake County Fire Rescue 8 week orientation class, Hazardous Materials and First Responder, State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license and/or State of Florida Paramedic Certification; may be required to obtain other technical or professional certifications as deemed necessary and approved by department and/or Lake County Medical Director.
