General Description
There are 135 (Including District Chiefs, Lieutenants, Firefighter/Paramedics, and Firefighter/EMT's) line positions, not including administrative staff.
We cover just over 104 square miles and an approximate population of 93,000+ from six fire stations (seventh station in the works). Our daily line staffing covers 1 ALS Engine, two BLS Engines, three ALS Quints, one Tanker (Tender), six ALS Rescues, and two District Chiefs.

Firefighter/Paramedic is $69,199.63 - $110,638.13
Firefighter/EMT salary is $56,199.63 - $90,638.13 both including FLSA overtime.

Ability to convert 120 hours of PDO to salary paid once per year at overtime rate with the ability to sell back an additional 120 hours at straight time. Essential Job Functions
Performs work in a safe and efficient manner compliant with City and District rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Promotes the well being of themself, the City and others through participation in external and internal District programs. Knowledgeable and responsible for the application and practical use of the rules, regulations, general orders, standard operating guidelines, and general functions (Mission Statement) of the District.
Drive Emergency Vehicles operated by the department.
Performs strategic and tactical decision making in response to fire alarms, 911 calls, or other emergency incidents including but not limited to, transporting fire services and emergency medical personnel to incidents; exercising defensive/offensive driving skills in response to road and traffic conditions; determining most time efficient geographic route to the scene; strategic placement of assigned apparatus/equipment to best address an emergency incident or fire attack; determining which equipment to apply to firefighting actions applicable to the specific incident encountered; and determining attack logistics (e.g., selecting proper hoses and diameters, calculating friction loss and low rates/pressures to ensure proper flow volumes).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
In addition to the requirements listed in the License and Certificates section, graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required. Progressive knowledge and application of firefighting and emergency medical skills; ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions promptly, effectively and efficiently under varied and difficult conditions; ability to establish and maintain effective working skills and knowledge; ability to read, write and interpret English (documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, policy and procedure manuals); ability to speak, interpret and convey effectively in English, before groups of customers or employees of organization; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, formulas, dosages, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; computer literate - must possess the skills necessary to use word processing type programs and basic computer operations
Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications
Qualifying on pre-employment requirements may include clinical knowledge and skills evaluation; oral review panel, acceptable driving record, drug screening and medical evaluation; and background checks. Work schedule will include evenings, weekends and holidays - rotating shifts.
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
