As part of CST, you will have primary responsibility for coordinating the planning, design, and operation of storage solutions in support of diverse communities including Experimental Nuclear Physics program, the Theory Center, and the Data Science department. That translates to more growth for you, exciting learning opportunities, career choices, and the chance to make a real impact.In this role you will:In coordination with laboratory staff and stakeholders, architect high performance and high throughput storage solutions with high availability and class leading performance.Participate in long-term planning for lab computing infrastructure that will demand concurrent facility operation and upgrades.Research and recommend leading storage solutions that balance performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.Coordinate group projects that involve developers, system administrators, and network staff. Be an active participant and technical contributor to such storage projects.Utilize trends and monitoring data from diverse sources to tune storage systems.Produce written documentation for diverse audiences, including system administrators, lab management, peers, and professional organizations.Qualifications We Require:Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems or another relevant field.6 years of experience with the architecture and management of large storage systems.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Demonstrated ability to learn and apply knowledge of new products and emerging technologies specifically around large scale storage deployments; leverage existing technology practices, standards, and procedures; manage mid to large-sized infrastructure evaluation and deployment projects.Expert knowledge of Linux System administration.Expert knowledge of parallel and distributed filesystems.Expert knowledge of Tape-based storage technology.Experience with grid tools such as XRootD, CVMFS, and HTCondor.Knowledge of Networking including InfiniBand and Ethernet as they pertain to storage systems.Demonstrated experience in python and shell scripting.Ability to work in the data center and to participate in an on-call rotation.Strong communication skills and ability to report on progress of tasks and projects.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work on project teams.Excellent leadership and management skills.Qualifications We Desire:Master of Science degree in computer science, information systems or other relevant information technology field.6+ years of experience in developing, deploying, and testing high performance high throughput computing based software solutions.Experience in leading teams on medium to large scale complex projects.About Jefferson Lab:Join a community with a common purpose of solving the most challenging scientific and engineering problems of our time.
