This is a position for a traffic engineer with 2 or more years of relevant experience to work on public and private sector traffic engineering projects. Typical assignments will include traffic modeling, traffic impact analysis reports, traffic signal design, signal timing plans, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) design, signing and striping plans, and corridor studies.Duties would include the following:Prepare traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and maintenance of traffic plansPrepare Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) designPerform data collectionPerform traffic impact analysesPrepare traffic and safety studiesPerform traffic analysesPerform transportation planning studiesPrepare quantity and cost estimatesPrepare written reportsThe most qualified candidate will possess the following skills, experience and attributes:B.S.C.E. degree requiredE.I.T. certification required; P.E. preferredFamiliarity with standard references such as the AASHTO Green Book, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Highway Safety Manual and the Highway Capacity ManualFamiliarity with TxDOT design standards and guidelinesComputer skills including training in CADD (MICROSTATION, OPEN ROADS, GEOPAK), HCS, SYNCHRO/SIM-TRAFFIC, Vistro, VISSIM, SIDRA, AGi32, Microsoft WORD and Microsoft EXCELStrong verbal and written communication skillsQualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in a design related field.Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.Performance Expectations
Complete Annual Individual Training ProgramTrain adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absenceComply with all KCI policies and proceduresEnsure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirementsComplete other duties as required/assignedAchieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target (80-85% typical)Attend bi-weekly (or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasksComplete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scopeConsult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as requiredOperate within specified (corporate or project) budget parametersCompare field data to base planConduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as neededPrepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approvalPrepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approvalRead and interpret technical documents needed for performance of jobReview and approve shop drawingsKCI Technologies, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
