Long Haul Dark Fiber Network Planner
to be responsible for a variety of functions related to Zayo's Long Haul Dark Fiber Network. The
Long Haul Dark Fiber Network Planner
will have an intimate understanding of Zayo's existing Long Haul Dark Fiber Network. The goal is to be the resident expert of Zayo's Long Haul Dark Fiber assets being the go-to resource for internal functional groups on both a technical and competitive perspective. The
Long Haul Dark Fiber Network Planner
will report directly to the Long Haul Dark Fiber Product Management Director.Responsibilities:Evaluating Long Haul Dark Fiber builds in North America by working with Sales, Network Planning, and Network Development. Projects include new greenfield routes and route overbuilds.Managing fiber, conduit, and ILA colocation capacity on existing Long Haul Dark Fiber routes in conjunction with Fiber Engineering and Inside Plant via GE Small World/IQ GEO and in Zayo's custom SaaS application.Procuring 3rd party Long Haul Dark Fiber for Zayo's 400G Long Haul Wavelength Network and managing the existing base of 3rd party Long Haul Dark Fiber assets providing direction at contract expiration to renew, terminate, or replace with another provider.Understanding the Long Haul Dark Fiber competitive landscape in North America to know Zayo's market portion on a route by route basis to work with commercial management on customer proposals.Work as part of a cross-functional team to identify, qualify, develop and creatively solve new long haul route opportunities.Critically assess and qualify route requirements (routing, fiber counts, ILA spacing, etc.) to ensure route objectives are clearly defined and meet Zayo and stakeholder requirements.Own and evolve the "Plan of Record" solution process for new greenfield builds and overbuilds.Maintain records database for existing Long Haul Dark Fiber routes which includes information on fiber cables and conduits, ILA colocation huts, 3rd party assets (if applicable), and relevant overall underlying rights details.Conduct quarterly training sessions for the broader Zayo organization on Zayo's Long Haul Dark Fiber assets communicating "what we have and what we are doing".Develop a communication plan with 3rd party Long Haul Dark Fiber vendors to understand their assets and how Zayo can potentially leverage them if needed.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering or other related technical field, or equivalent work experience. Business degree/acumen a plus.Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in wireline carrier network planning, engineering and construction.Well-developed financial skills including business case development, cost management, budgeting and financial analysis.Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and prepare presentations and proposals. Must possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and customers.Prior product, sales and/or sales engineering experience with Layer 1 services (dark fiber and/or transport) a plus.Strong understanding of the current carrier network landscape in the US, a plus.Demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills.Ability to communicate technical topics clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers.Proficiency in the MS Office suite with emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of Salesforce.com platform is a plus.Requires an individual who is detail-oriented with superb organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize. Requires an ability to be flexible in work schedule and to work and meet strict deadlines with limited supervision.Ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment.Working knowledge of GIS-based tools such as MapInfo, ArcView or Google Earth.Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Google Suite products.Familiarity with Salesforce, a plus.Base Salary Range:
