Standard Solar, a Brookfield Renewable Company, is a leading independent power producer focused on developing, acquiring, funding and operating DG-scale solar energy and storage projects throughout the US. We are looking to expand our in-house legal department with an attorney who has direct experience with preparing and negotiating agreements for EPC, equipment procurement, O&M, asset management and various agreements and matters relating to the construction and operation of solar and storage projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead transactional counsel for solar engineering, procurement, construction, and operationsManage and lead activities by working with internal teams in areas including, but not limited to acquisition, development, construction, major equipment procurement, operations and maintenance, asset management and project finance (tax equity and debt).Review, draft and negotiate relevant agreements including EPC agreements, master service agreements, procurement contracts, O&M agreements, asset management agreements, construction contracts, and other relevant transaction agreementsProvide general legal support to the construction, asset management, engineering, and development teamsPlay an integral role in the broader in-house legal teamInterface directly with counterparties (major equipment suppliers, contractors, EPC providers and subcontractors)Engage and manage outside counselReports directly to the General Counsel and Chief Development Officer
Minimum Education, Skills and Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (or LLB) from accredited law schoolAt least 2-3 years exposure to EPC, procurement or asset management matters for solar energy projects; exposure to storage projects a plusIn-house or law firm experienceStrong working understanding of EPC and procurement contractingAbility to work closely with cross-functional internal teamsExcellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and legal leadership skillsEmbrace and embody the mission and values of Standard Solar - working together to promote clean energy!
About our Locations:
This position can either be based in Standard Solar's home office in Rockville, MD, its Los Angeles, CA office located in the Playa District Business Campus, or remotely.
