Standard Solar, a Brookfield Renewable Company, is a leading independent power producer focused on acquiring, developing, funding and operating DG-scale solar energy and storage projects throughout the US. We are looking to expand our in-house legal department with an attorney who has direct experience with preparing and negotiating agreements for the acquisition and development of DG-scale solar energy and storage projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead transactional counsel for distributed solar and solar + storage acquisition and development transactions - community solar garden, C&I/behind the meter, virtual net-metered, and AC/DC coupled storageManage and lead activities by working with internal transaction teamsReview, draft and negotiate relevant agreements including MIPA/APAs, site control, revenue agreements, and other agreements and documents ancillary to acquisition and development transactionsPrepare and negotiate term sheets and LOIs for the acquisition of assetsProvide practical legal advice and support on various commercial matters and organic growth initiatives including renewable energy project development, joint ventures, and partnerships with local developersProvide project-level legal leadership and support to the transactions, business development/deal origination and structured finance teamsEngage and manage outside transactional counselPlay an integral role in the broader in-house legal teamInterface directly with developer, seller and offtake counterpartiesEnsure quality, clarity and consistency across acquisition transactionsReports directly to the General Counsel and Chief Development Officer

Minimum Education, Skills and Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (or LLB) from accredited law schoolAt least 4+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house to renewable energy transactions, preferably in solarExtensive MIPA experience a plus, strong working experience with MIPA/APAs requiredAbility to work closely with cross-functional internal teams and manage several transactions simultaneouslyExcellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and legal leadership skillsEmbrace and embody the mission and values of Standard Solar - working together to promote clean energy!

About our Locations:

This position can either be based in Standard Solar's home office in Rockville, MD, its Los Angeles, CA office located in the Playa District Business Campus, or remotely.
