We make the world safer - and you can, too.What You'll Do in This PositionSRNS is seeking to hire an Experienced Automation Software Developer / System Integrator with extensive continuous Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) automation experience. This person will become an integral part of the Operational Technology PLC Systems Team. Operational Technology provides process automation solutions to support safe, secure, and effective operations for Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) facilities.Specific support provided will differ according to assignment, but will generally include:Directing, planning, developing, implementing, and administering technical engineering and operations related programs.Ensure technical aspects of engineering, operations, or maintenance programs are in compliance with governing directives.Interface and negotiate with vendors to resolve equipment, services, staffing, and technical related issues.Evaluate and analyze equipment, instruments, and procedures needed to upgrade operations programs.Evaluate, test, and procure new equipment and instruments in support of assigned operations programs.Ensure technical aspects of engineering and operations programs are in compliance with applicable laws, standards, and DOE Orders.Serve on various committees regarding standardization of equipment, instrumentation, processes, and training in support of the company and DOE operations programs.Direct daily activity of other engineering and technical support specialists and serve as an area point of contact or subject matter expert for the most complex technical issues.Assist less experienced personnel with more difficult aspects of work and provide guidance to less senior employees to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.Demonstrate cost and schedule awareness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.Candidates should possess skills and experience in several areas including:Configuring OPC serversDeveloping HMI softwareDeveloping PLC software from scratchIndustrial network communications architecturesIntegrating data management systemsPerforming instrumentation calibrations/simulationsProgramming in LAD, SFC, FBD, and Structured TextReviewing control logic diagramsReviewing electrical diagramsReviewing P&IDsTraining/mentoring colleagues, maintenance personnel, and operations personnelTroubleshooting PLC hardware and softwareWriting technical proceduresSecurity Clearance InformationSRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
