The firm provides clients worldwide with customized service and a level of excellence that have become the firm's hallmark in several primary practice areas - ports and harbors; coastal, environmental and water resources; urban waterfronts and marinas; transportation, bridges and rail; inspection and rehabilitation; and energy.Duties and responsibilities:Designs construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.Supports the analysis of project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs.Creates feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.Develops construction specifications, plans, and schedules to produce engineering documents.Researches and assists in complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.Successfully supports ongoing Coastal / Water practice through contacts and business development efforts working with EPA, Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, Local Environmental agencies, as well as private sector clients.Implements scientific and regulatory tasks for projects to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and policies, including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Coastal Engineering.6+ years of experience as a coastal engineer.Professional Engineer (AICP, PP, PG, etc.) licensure in Florida or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire.Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).Availability and willingness to travel.All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire.Working conditions:Majority of work is office-based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
