THE POSITIONThe City of Ventura is adding a supervisor to their Housing Services Team. This is a great opportunity to work with an organization that cares for the community and believes that everyone in the community deserves to be supported. As the Senior Management Analyst (Housing & Homeless Services Supervisor), you will use your experience in housing services or homelessness support to provide outreach and engagement to those in need. You must have strong communication skills and be able to supervise in a team environment. Providing direct supervision to Housing Support Coordinators, you will coordinate work activities while monitoring the progress and performance of each staff member. Your clear and timely instructions will create a productive work environment and address any concerns in a timely manner.
The Housing & Homeless Services Supervisor will evaluate programs and projects ensuring goals and objectives align with the City of Ventura's mission and community needs. This supervisor will design program service delivery models, identify and secure funding for program activities and monitor effectiveness. Moreover, grant management experience will be critical to manage funding, monitor compliance with goals and ensure that grant funds are used in accordance with agency regulations. A high degree of responsibility for research and analysis are part of project management as this supervisor will make recommendations that have significant organizational impact for consideration by department management.
The Housing & Homeless Services Supervisor will develop and deliver workshops and presentations to promote projects. They will collaborate with local agencies, community partners, government officials and housing commissions, sharing information to build relationships, coordinate services and advocate for policies and initiatives at the local level.
This position is the advanced journey level of the management analyst series and is not flexibly staffed.
The ideal candidate will
have demonstrated project management experience along with an in-depth understanding of local and state government operations
be highly organized and able to bring projects to completion within the specified timeframe
have experience with budgeting in a government environment and know how to navigate the overall budget process
have grant writing and contract management experience including tracking and billing grants after award
have presentation experience with the ability to create visually appealing, persuasive, effective presentations and deliver information to both technical and non-technical audiences
have political savvy to work with a wide variety of people reading situations and responding appropriately
have strong supervisory skills with the ability to engage a team of professional level staff, setting performance expectations and providing ongoing training and support
be an effective communicator who is confident in dealing with stakeholders at all levels
Currently, there is one full-time position available that the City is looking to fill immediately. This recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies.
