Director, Content Packaging & ScreeningPosition Overview:
The Associate Director, Content Packaging position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Content Packaging department. They manage team workload and work closely with team members to ensure timely, accurate metadata and media delivery for PBS National Kids, General Audience and Pledge Programming. The position also facilitates communication between Content Packaging and internal clients across the company to support broadcast and other PBS platform distribution.Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Oversee the processing of broadcast deliverables including technical QC, metadata QC, edit supervision and distribution package assembly.Supervise the process of updating media for editorial or technical issues. Coordinate with team to make sure that media is repackaged in a timely and accurate manner.Assist Director, Content Packaging in developing SOPs and department metrics.Support customer service provided to internal and external clients as it relates to PBS technical specifications and distribution requirements.Represent Content Packaging at interdepartmental meetings.Train and develop Content Packaging team.Requirements for success:5+ years of experience working in communications, television or related area required.B.A. in Communications, Television/Film production or similar field, or equivalent experience.Experience in film/video post-production capacities, including AVID or other non-linear editing a plus.Knowledge of broadcast technology and operations.Familiarity with supervising/managing on-line and off-line editors in post-production processes and facilities.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and familiarity with database programming.Strong management and supervisory skills.Familiarity with production costs and budgets a plus.Strong communication, information gathering, and organizational skills; strong writing skills.Ability to work under stressful circumstances, react to change productively, and handle other essential duties as assigned.Demonstrated understanding of PBS guidelines and practices with respect to program post-production and distribution and strong familiarity with public television programming and on-air packaging a plus.Analytical skills with respect to aesthetic material; ability to work with creative and technical personnel.PBS is an Equal Opportunity Employer in accordance with the EEOC and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
