Summary:
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer I with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Project Engineer will review, provide analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues with project team members and participants. This position is based on a Data Center project in Omaha, Nebraska.
What you will be doing:
Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons
Implement the pre-construction quality planObtain and maintain all necessary construction permitsWork with Project Manager for fee payments or recurring permit expensesDevelop and maintain: Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, Non-Conformance ReportCreate, oversee, and distribute contract documentsEstablish handling procedures for electronic documents, including Request for Information (RFI) and correspondenceIncorporate all processes and procedures that support the project closeout phase
Lead all aspects of testing and inspection processes for the construction quality management program
Implement three-phase inspection systemEstablish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and any off-site testing proceduresNotify the Project Manager and Superintendent promptly of test results or inspection items that do not conform to contract requirements
Handle submittals
Set up register in accordance with project specificationsObtain the customer/architect's approvalPrepare project-specific transmittal forms in PCMSCoordinate the packaging, review, and processing of submittalsExpedite submittals to ensure material deliveries are in sync with the project scheduleCommunicate details and requirements for the submittal process to subcontractors and suppliersIssue submittal requirement letters that outline packaging and processing requirementsProvide periodic updates of the submittal register to the customer or architectCoordinate details of various subcontractors, including verifying insurance, preparing paperwork, and requesting final payment from Finance
Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders
Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documentsIncorporate subcontractor as-built documentation in the procedures for revising or updating contract documents
Process Improvement
Extract information from internal systems, industry reports, public information, field reports, and other data sources to identify correlations and translate them into internal, operational insightsReview program data consistently to provide corrective action, when necessary, based on information collected and current trends to maximize business performance
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance
Other duties as assigned, including:
Determine alternative work methods as neededCoordinate safety and compliance for all team membersMaintain schedule of timelines and follow through until completion

Education and experience:
