Clinical Informatics Compliance Reporting Specialist

The Clinical Informatics Compliance Reporting Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring that meaningful data is captured, analyzed, and reported accurately to meet regulatory compliance standards and support key quality initiatives at Richland Hospital. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with hospital departments, clinical staff, IT personnel, and Clinical Informatics specialists to improve patient care, ensure accurate documentation, and optimize the use of electronic health records (EHR). This role is integral to meeting financial reimbursement goals and maintaining patient safety and operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with various hospital and clinical departments, including IT and Clinical Informatics, to ensure the capture and accurate reporting of meaningful data for programs such as Promoting Interoperability, MIPS, eCQMs, IMO mapping, and more.
Assist in the development and maintenance of documentation to meet Clinical Quality Measures (CQMs), Core Measures, and Clinical Decision Support rules, ensuring data can be electronically transmitted to regulatory agencies.
Work with clinical EMR leads, IT teams, report writers, and external vendors to ensure data can be extracted from clinical documentation to meet patient care needs and regulatory requirements.
Support clinical and coding teams to ensure that documentation templates meet ICD-9/ICD-10 standards, promoting efficient and accurate patient care while maximizing reimbursement.
Collaborate with leadership teams to ensure that the data necessary for quality improvement initiatives is readily extractable.
Serve as a back-up for the Clinical Informatics team, assisting with EHR system implementation, optimization, software updates, and training.
Partner with healthcare teams to evaluate quality measures, assess incentives, and develop best practices for improved outcomes.
Conduct point-of-care and concurrent reviews of clinical documentation to assess completeness, compliance, and identify areas for process and template improvement to optimize patient safety and quality outcomes.
Collaborate with physicians, utilization review teams, nurse managers, and coders to identify areas for documentation compliance and process improvement.
Maintain proficiency with Meditech modules such as Physician Care Manager (PCM), Patient Care System (PCS), and Order Management (OM), ensuring proper functioning and integration across systems.
Stay current on regulatory requirements and deadlines to ensure timely submission of data for all mandated programs.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited IT, nursing, or healthcare-related program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
2-3 years of experience with the use of electronic health records (EHR) and familiarity with Meaningful Use, compliance requirements, and healthcare data management strongly preferred.
