The Department of Pharmacology at the University of California - San Diego School of Medicine is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.The Department is conducting an open search for Project Scientists and Research Scientists at the Assistant, Associate, or Full level to perform vital research focusing on areas relevant to signal transduction, drug discovery, molecular specificity of therapeutic or environmental agents, drug disposition and action, structural and computational biology, cancer biology, and inflammation.Project Scientists
make significant and creative contributions to a research project. They will be responsible for performing studies and experiments, providing onsite teaching to students in the lab, preparing presentations, and reporting and summarizing data.Research Scientists
are expected to serve as Principal Investigators on extramural grants, generate high-caliber publications and research products, develop and continuously lead an independent and creative research program of high quality and significance, teach and mentor postdocs and students in the laboratory, and garner scholarly reputations.Appointment level/rank is dependent upon academic experience and scholarly achievements.Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
(required at time of application): Candidates must have a PhD, a Doctoral degree, or equivalent in Pharmacological Sciences or related fields.Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with postdoctoral training or equivalent experience are preferred. Candidates with experience in building an independent research program and/or obtaining independent funding are also preferred.Application Requirements
