The Urgent Care APP (PA/NP) provides orthopedic care under collaborating physician supervision in an urgent care setting. The APP shall exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provides a broad range of orthopedic related diagnostic and therapeutic services including ordering
The Urgent Care APP (PA/NP) works closely with the patient, sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, athletic trainers, physical therapists, coaches and athletic directors to take care of urgent orthopedic injuries and provides general orthopedic care to the community by diagnosing and managing orthopedics conditions, treating injuries and referring to orthopedic subspecialties.
The clinic has onsite x-ray, ultrasound, casting room, DME supplies and a clinical support staff. The clinic is open 8am-8pm Monday - Saturday. Actual assigned full time work hours will be flexible and shared amongst all providers to ensure the clinic is staffed 12 hours per day. Rotating weekend shifts are required.
The APP shall:
* Evaluate orthopedic injuries and work patient up for correct diagnosis.* Order and/or conduct diagnostic and laboratory tests and medical imaging with appropriate follow up care provided.* Order or prescribe pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies.* Maintain accurate detailed records regarding patient's treatment, history and plan of care.* Consult and coordinate with healthcare team to assess, plan, implement patient's care plan* Collaborate with fellow employees regarding treatment and continuing care when necessary* Organize and prioritize work during heavy workload situations to expedite patient care* Maintain strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance* Experience:
1 Year of Orthopedic experience is required.
* PA Qualifications:* Bachelors degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Program required.* Valid Alabama PA license.* Knowledge of and ability to master use of Electronic Medical Record.* Strong customer service skills.* Excellent organizational skills.* Strong analytical skills.* Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations.* Ability to work from broad directions and be self-motivated.* Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.* Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization.* Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients.* Willing to participate in orthopedic care education programs and practice state of the art care for all patients.* Basic Cardiac Life Support (Basic Life Support (BLS)) Certification* NP Qualifications* Valid AL Nurse Practitioner clinical license through the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).* Knowledge of and ability to master use of Electronic Medical Record.* Strong customer service skills.* Excellent organizational skills.* Strong analytical skills.* Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations.* Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated.* Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.* Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization.* Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients.* Willing to participate in orthopedic care education programs and practice state of the art care for all patients.* Basic Cardiac Life Support (Basic Life Support (BLS)) Certification
