Vice President - Senior Underwriter
responsible for executing Distinguished’s Premises Pollution Liability underwriting activities with the goal of a sustainable, profitable book of business.You will be responsible for developing, underwriting and managing a book of business for Premises Pollution Liability (PPL), Contractor’s Pollution Liability (CPL) and follow form excess products. You will positively contribute to Distinguished Programs' bottom line profitability by utilizing environmental risk management tools, team collaboration, your insurance underwriting knowledge, business acumen, and sales and marketing skills. You will also be expected to develop and successfully work with a network of retail and wholesale insurance brokers.RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate the exposures and risk management practices of their accounts, determine appropriate policy terms and conditions, and develop policy pricing for Pollution Legal Liability Plus (PLLP) insurance programs.Advocate for each viable submission; complete a Risk Assessment Document (RAD) and coordinate/collaborate, as necessary, with fellow employees and management on submission due diligence, risk assessment, terms and conditions, etc.Develop policy terms and conditions, pricing, policy structure, and make coverage recommendations.Collaborate with fellow underwriters and management to address issues such as pricing, wording questions, and inconsistencies, and bring about resolutions, liaise with Division Counsel on contract analysis, manuscript wording, and claims issues, prepare quote terms and conditions, and document said files accordingly.Market to and successfully maintain existing retail and wholesale brokers. Develop new broker relationships to drive new business and retain renewal accounts. Maintain current client relationships.Perform account/exposure analysis and bind business in accordance with Distinguished Programs' guidelines.Prepare quotes, binders, policies, referrals, and related underwriting documentation within Distinguished Programs’ guidelines, and maintain underwriting files in an orderly manner, consistent with Distinguished Programs’ guidelines.Mentor more junior underwriters and where appropriate provide underwriting authority to such underwriters, while delegating and supervising account administration.Support management in assessing and developing expectations, goals, timelines and internal underwriting guidelines.Perform underwriting audits, as required.Deliver an exceptional customer experience with every interaction, in all modes of communication.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience underwriting environmental risk is required.Minimum of 5 years of fixed-site/premises underwriting and marketing experience.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.CPCU, CRIS, and/or RPLU designations are a plus.Strong verbal and written communication skills including negotiation skills.Self-driven, detail oriented, and strong organizational skills including time-management and prioritization.Networking and relationship building skills. Having a network of industry contacts is preferred.Sound business acumen combined with analytical, mathematical, reasoning, computer, and customer management skills.Contract review knowledge, skills, and abilities.Travel will be required from time to time for conferences, broker meetings, and team meetings.LOCATION
This is a remote position - preferred locations: Los Angeles or Chicago.COMPENSATION AND PERKS
$150,000 to 200,000 base salary plus bonus. Salary commensurate with knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location.Summer Fridays (Leave at 2:00PM all Fridays from Memorial Day to Labor Day).Full healthcare coverage including Medical, Vision, and Dental.401k company match.
