Position Responsibilities:Ensures congruence between the mission of the College and University and the educational goals of the nurse anesthesia program.Ensures congruence with standards established by the Council on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Pennsylvania Board of Nursing and certifying agenciesMonitors the policies of the program's accrediting agency to ensure that the nurse anesthesia program maintains compliance.Collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in planning, implementing, and evaluating the nurse anesthesia program curricula in cooperation with the faculty and staffCollaborates with the Dean and Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the nurse anesthesia program budget that ensures adequate operating expenses, academic resources, appropriate number of faculty and support staff, and funds for faculty development.Establishes and implements an efficient system for day to day program operationsAdministers anesthesia one day per week in order to maintain their clinical expertise and participates in clinical instruction of students when they are assigned to the University affiliated hospital(s)Reviews completed program applicationsChairs the nurse anesthesia admissions selection committeeSchedules planning an evaluation meetings with teaching faculty pre-term and post-term for scheduled coursesTracks and participates in obtaining clinical placements for studentsCollaborates with the College's Director of Simulation and Clinical Skills to plan and implement laboratory and simulation activitiesPlans and implements orientation for new studentsSupervises recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, and evaluation of clinical facultyCollaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in planning teaching assignments and course schedulingMaintains open channels of communication with students, course faculty and staffDevelops programmatic calendars and schedules for SEE examination, Prodigy, and plan for success in NCE in collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and facultyServes as mentor and role model for teaching and clinical facultyProvides an environment conducive to student engagement and participation and the assimilation and enrichment of a diverse student bodyProvides oversight for student advisement and remediationServes as resource person to faculty for course related responsibilitiesOversees maintenance of program data base in collaboration with staffPrepares monthly and annual reportsCollaborates with College leadership team and University support services related to recruitment, marketing, admission, registration, progression, and graduation activitiesVerifies that students have met all requirements for graduation in collaboration with facultyTracks pass rates on national certification examination in collaboration with facultyReviews the nurse anesthesia program curriculum annually as part of the systematic evaluation planCollaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and the nurse anesthesia faculty to ensure a curriculum that is consistent with the other advanced nurse practitioner programs offered within the College of Nursing and the educational standards of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational ProgramsOrganizes the curriculum to ensure logical sequence of teaching and learning: identifies minimum clinical competencies required of all graduates; participates in the didactic teaching program; maintains program records/files, current cumulative student records/files, and clinical faculty records/files in collaboration with administrative assistantRepresents the College on select University CommitteesProvides guidance for nursing student organizations in collaboration with the faculty liaisonTeaching as assigned

Qualifications

Earned doctorate in nursing from an accredited college or university

Master's degree preparation in nursing

Licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

National Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in a collegiate nursing program or equivalent experience

Evidence of progressive leadership and academic responsibilities

Evidence of effective teaching

Demonstrated scholarly productivity
