The County Health & Human Services Department is seeking a dedicated Public Health Nurse to deliver essential healthcare services, education, and support to the community.

Salary InformationThe compensation for this position ranges from $30.91 (Starting Wage) to $41.57 (Top Wage) per hour. This salary structure is based on the County's 9-step pay scale, with compensation starting at Step 1 demonstrating entry-level pay.

DescriptionKey responsibilities include providing outreach on health topics such as nutrition, chronic disease, and communicable diseases as well as organizing and staffing clinics for immunizations, disease detection, and school health services. Other responsibilities also include monitoring and reporting on vaccine use and communicable disease cases. This role also requires collaboration with schools, emergency responders, and community agencies to offer comprehensive care, including case management for children with special needs, opioid overdose follow-up, and infectious disease investigation. The nurse will also engage in public health emergency planning, offer syringe exchange and Naloxone training, collect data for research, and participate in community health assessments and policy development. Education/TrainingB.S.N. degree or related advanced nursing degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Associate degree from an approved nursing program for RN required. Current Washington State Registered Nurse license.

Experience - Public Health Nurse IThis is the entry level class in the Public Health Nurse series. Some professional nursing experience is desirable.Experience - Public Health Nurse IIAt least two years of public health nursing experience comparable to a Public Health Nurse I with Clallam County.

Employment Vacation Donation Program

Vacation Leave Accrual (Unless otherwise provided by contract, all regular full-time employees shall accrue vacation leave monthly based upon the following schedule):

0-48 months = 8 hours per month

49-108 months = 10 hours per month

109-168 months = 12 hours per month

169-204 months = 14 hours per month

Over 204 months = 16.67 hours per month

Sick Leave:Full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 8 hours per month. Eligibility for use of sick leave is established after one month of continuous employment.

** Part-time employee's benefit contributions and leave accruals are prorated.
