Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County (OADC) has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Physician Assistant to join its team in New Windsor, NY. This well-regarded, state-of-the-art practice is committed to superior clinical outcomes and provides a highly collegial and supportive work environment.
Founded in 1975, OADC and its fellowship trained surgeons provide Hudson Valley communities with advanced, accessible and vertically integrated orthopedic care. With 26 sub-specialty trained physicians practicing across five clinical locations and a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center, OADC is the largest and most established practice in its markets. The physicians provide expertise in the full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries including sports medicine, minimally invasive orthopedic spine surgery, total joint replacement, foot/ankle, hand/upper extremity, and pain management.
Highlights:
* Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, counsels on preventative care* Holds/Manages a clinic schedule to assist with post operative appointments, urgent walk in visits, follow up visits and new patients* Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients; reviews patient records, interpreting and integrating data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed, including, but not limited to, x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.* Assists in surgical cases* Sutures wounds and provides wound care and infection management* Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances* Prepares discharge summaries* Performs a complete physical exam and records findings* Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures* Administers injections, immunizations, and oral medications* Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention; instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions* Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation* Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations* Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits* Documents in patient charts based on practices compliance requirements* Completes coding timely and accurately* Hospital affiliations include Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall, Eastern Orange Surgical Center* No call requirement* Monday-Friday work schedule; 8am-4:30pm* Allscripts EMR* Highly competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package (including CME allowance and 5 weeks PTO)
