Neonatology Staff Physician 2 or Staff Physician 3
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide safe and effective medical care to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center patients. Follows care guidelines and treatment protocols for infants, children, and adolescents to aid their mental and physical growth and development. Participates in all department/division activities and initiatives. Maintains good standing in the department.
Representative Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education, and experience. Participate in safe, effective, and compassionate patient care commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility. Examine patients to determine the presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices. Determine the nature and extent of disease or injury and prescribe and administer medications and immunizations. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data, and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment, and discontinuation. May formulate, maintain, support, monitor, and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment, and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment. May also plan and coordinate care, treatment, and rehabilitation for discharged patients.
Effective Communication -Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred, or discharged. Provide data that will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment, and the appropriate level of care.
Development of Clinical Excellence
- Actively participates in department/division and system learner training and educational programs. Maintains currency in the field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
Policy Compliance
- Maintains good standing in the department by compliance with licensure and credentialing criteria. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission handling and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge, and billing. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information.
Education/Experience
Staff Physician 2 requirements: Doctor of Medicine OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent Unrestricted licensed physician Approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division 2 years related experience
Preferred: Board certification in pediatrics. Adv Cardiovascular Life Support CPR
Staff Physician 3 requirements: Doctor of Medicine OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent Unrestricted licensed physician Approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division 5 years related experience
Preferred: Board certification in pediatrics. Adv Cardiovascular Life Support CPR

Skill in physical assessment, diagnosis, well-childcare, and management of illness Professional knowledge and clinical ability sufficient to evaluate and treat complex patients in one or more specialty areas. Knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology Knowledge and skill in patient and/or family education Understanding and showing respect and appreciation for the uniqueness of all individuals; leveraging differences in others' perspectives and ideas; appreciating cultural differences and adjusting one's approach to integrate with others who are different from oneself successfully.
