**The role you'll contribute:**

The Inpatient Wound Care Nurse shall be responsible for Inpatient Wound Care program oversight, wound/ostomy consultation and management, monitoring of quality indicators and staff education.

This role will participate in the hospital Skin & Wound Committee and serve as a liaison between the Inpatient and Outpatient Wound Care/Hyperbarics programs within the Rollins Brook, Killeen, and Harker Heights facilities. The Wound Care Nurse shall provide mentorship and education to the department nursing personnel.

She/He shall delegate patient care tasks based on the needs of the patient and the knowledge and skills of the individual selected to perform the identified tasks.

Demonstrates critical thinking and independent decision making, utilizing policies and procedures, standards of care and data analysis (e.g., manages crisis prevention and intervention at a unit level).

Collaborates and communicates with physicians to ensure quality care.

Develops, utilizes and models effective time management skills.

·

Develops and implements inpatient wound care program to include patient care protocols, documentation tools and wound care referral criteria.

·

Through training and support, empowers all clinical staff to effectively assess wounds, recommend appropriate protocols, and advocates with physicians.

·

Develops and implements tools to ensure effectiveness of wound care program on ongoing basis, to include chart review and monitoring of quality data.

Participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:**

**Familiarity with PC's and computerized documentation system tools or demonstrated ability to learn.**

**Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians.**

**Good organization, delegation and communication skills to facilitate efficient patient care.**

**·**

**Strong demonstrated ability in assessment, analytical decision making and critical thinking.**

**·**

**Leadership ability and coordination skills.**

**Familiarity with a variety of patient care equipment and products.**

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**

Registered Nurse with current Texas license
