The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Health Resources Division, Hospital and Physicians Services Bureau.

The Health Resources Division seeks to provide health care for low-income and disabled Montanans through Medicaid, the Health and Economic Livelihood Partnership (HELP Aka Medicaid Expansion), the Healthy Montana Kids (HMK) and Healthy Montana Kids Plus (HMK Plus) Plans. As the Program Officer, this position is responsible for duties related to Ambulance services, the Section 1115 Waiver for Additional Services and Populations (WASP), Plan First Waiver, Preventative Services (Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Program portion), multiple State Plan Amendments (SPAs), HELP Alternative Benefit Plan and other State Plan Amendments and Waivers as assigned.

Other responsibilities include working with the administrative rules, statutes, and policies concerning the claims payment system and coding; working with members and providers concerning services, billing, and case management; coordinating program changes in the Montana Medicaid Information System (MMIS); and management of program related contracts.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

* General knowledge of Medicaid, medical terminology, and basic medical billing practices.* General knowledge of fiscal and program management principles.* General knowledge of social and medical service delivery and reimbursement systems.* Ability to research, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations.* Meet minimum qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in human services; business; public administration; health administration; or a related field.* Three years of professional experience in health care, public health or general program management.* Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Preferred:

Experience with medical billing, medical coding systems, data analysis or other claims payment programs are preferred.* General knowledge of Medicaid, HMK, HMK Plus, or HELP programs.
