Position Description
Provides professional care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs. Assists patients in labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. Ensures safety and health of mother and child and identifies need for additional care. Performs a variety of tasks. Works in conjunction with a practicing physician. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
Preferred Qualifications
* One year full scope midwifery practice or nursing practice.* Bilingual competence in English and Spanish.* MSN Degree. Graduation from an accredited school of Nurse-Midwifery. Eligible for unrestricted certification by AMCB.* Eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Texas under Nurse-Midwifery specialty.* Active enrollment in AMCB Certification Maintenance Program after receiving Certification. Eligible for Delegated Prescriptive authorization through the Texas Board of Nursing.
Required Qualifications
* Requires certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife, a bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area* Must be a registered nurse in the State of Texas and familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
