Under the supervision of a Principal, Director of Student Services, or other administrator Paraprofessionals assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefit for students.
QualificationsParaprofessional/Teacher Aide Statement of ApprovalPrevious experience with children would be preferred?Candidates must possess strong collaborative, communication, organizational skills
Rate of Pay
Commensurate with qualifications and experience aligned to Winfield 34 Paraprofessional Salary Determination process. Between $17,640 and $22,149 for full 180 days of employment

180 school days if full-time, including all student days
Hours
Position hours are 8:00 am - 3:30 pm (7 hour work day with a 30 minute unpaid lunch)
Essential Job Responsibilities:Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and communityHelps to maintain a positive classroom environment, utilize appropriate language, interactions and positive discipline and model positive behaviorMaintains order with the students and comply with and assist in teachers' methods of maintaining classroom disciplineWorks with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of concepts or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staffEncourages students to function as a member of the group by involving other students in activities and encouraged independence and self-help skillsCirculates and monitors student work, and proctors assessments as assigned by the certified staffAssists students with lessons and assignments in a variety of classroom learning experiences. This includes classrooms lead by homeroom teachers, content area teachers, LBS teachers, and specials teachers.Adapts classroom activities to the capabilities of the studentImplements age and developmentally appropriate activitiesImplements individual programAssists teachers and students with organizational needs in the classroomsAssists in maintaining individual student's progress records for review and program planningRedirects parental questions/concerns to supervisorsParticipates in team meetings as warranted and communicates and shares ideas and concerns with supervisorsPerforms assigned supervision of students during before school, after school, lunch periods, play periods, hallways and all other supervision needsWorks as a member of the students' teamPerforms clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assignedAlerts the certified staff to any problems, concerns, or special information about an individual studentMaintains a safe working environmentContinues to improve expertise and job related skills. Engages in professional development activitiesReceives the students from the bus, parents' cars, and other forms of transportation. Ensures that students are picked up after schoolConducts prescribed therapeutic and exercise programs for physically exceptional studentsParticipates in all facets of the program designed to develop the language, independence, mobility and self-help skills of studentsDemonstrates proficiency of technology skills necessary to successfully carry out duties as well as assisting individual students utilizing any assistive technology to support their instructionAttends to personal needs of students in the program. (i.e. feeding, toileting, clothing, general care, secures students in walkers or other equipment, moves or positions students)Monitors students for health problems issues when applicableCleans and stores materials and equipment after useSome lifting of students, equipment, or materials may be required, not to exceed forty (40) pounds. Lifting of over forty (40) pounds will require the assistance of another adultPerforms other such duties/assignments as directed by supervisors
