SUMMARY
Provides routine nutrition and exercise counseling along with breastfeeding education and support. Prepares and processes program documentation in the areas of nutrition, exercise and breastfeeding. Conducts clinical testing, measuring, and analysis. Assists with general clinic operations. This position reports to the WIC Director.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Works in WIC clinics performing and/or assisting staff with the performance of activities required to fulfill special grant obligations in the areas of Nutrition, Exercise, and/or Breastfeeding. * Develops courses and/or presentations in the areas of Nutrition, Exercise, and/or Breastfeeding that address the targeted goals outlined in the grant. * Develops instructional materials, job aides, client education materials as needed to address specific issues, concerns, or tasks related to goals of the project. * Responsible for developing and conducting program evaluation, statistical analysis, and project reporting. * Responsible for communicating courteously and effectively with administration, medical personnel, WIC personnel, WIC participants, and community partners. * Responsible for conducting in person and/or social media presentations. * Responsible for educating, training or instructing WIC participants and/or staff on the use of specific technological devices or technical material. * May work with WIC participants on an individual basis if needed. * May interface with medical personnel concerning the appropriate nutritional care of WIC clients, act as a liaison to other health professionals, or act as a liaison to other community partners concerning the WIC Program or the care of WIC participants. * May schedule appointments for WIC participants individually or in classes, or record attendance utilizing electronic scheduling software. * Responsible for learning the aspects of the Microsoft TXIN WIC software necessary to record counseling, class attendance, or reports for statistical analysis. * Performs quality assurance activities as required. * Distributes supplies and equipment related to specific programs being conducted, recording necessary information on logs. * Answers a multi-line telephone system as needed and processes calls in an efficient, professional, and friendly manner using correct grammar. * Maintains proficiency in specialized areas of Nutrition, Exercise, and/or Breastfeeding. * Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the WIC Nutrition Department as assigned or required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
* Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in specific areas of Nutrition, Exercise, and/or Breastfeeding. * Must have ability to speak to large and small groups in person or via social media in a clear, concise, and effective manner using correct grammar. * Must have ability to convey technological instructions or technical information in a courteous, clear, concise, effective, and respectful manner. * Must have ability to multitask appropriately, prioritize, be detail-oriented and goal driven. * Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom and utilize these software applications as required in developing materials, teaching classes, conducting individualized instruction, or other applications necessary to carry out the requirements of the grant. * Must have a willingness to learn and assume responsibility. * Must have ability to travel to different clinic locations and other venues in Potter/Randall/Carson/ Oldham/Armstrong counties if necessary. * Must be sensitive and responsive to diverse cultural and ethnic groups. * Must adhere to customer centered, hospitality focused sense of service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
College degree or certifications in the specific areas of Nutrition, Exercise, or Breastfeeding that are related to the job. Work experience in area of expertise. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable. Valid Texas Driver's License preferred. Bilingual in Spanish desirable.
