SALARY: $100,000 per year

SUMMARY

Under general supervision from the Medical Director and the Women's Health Program Manager, this position is responsible for managing patients in the Women's Health and STD clinics.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provides compassionate, quality patient care to clients of Amarillo Public Health.* Directs questions regarding medical treatment at Public Health to the Medical Director of Amarillo Public Health.* Under the direction of the Medical Director, serve as the provider for patients seeking women's health services.* Review lab results, x-ray reports, and other test results promptly, and take the necessary patient care action steps.* Work with patients and case managers for patient follow-up and referral.* Return patient and provider calls promptly.* Keep patient records up-to-date. Record accurately and timely in the clinic's electronic medical records (EMR).* Maintain competency with the provision of care to female patients of childbearing age for Amarillo Public Health.* Maintain competency with the provision of care to male and female patients for STD clinic.* Participates in and attends team meetings, staff meetings, department meetings, in-service training, committees, and other related activities as needed.* Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA requirements.* Participates in public health preparedness responses.* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.* Maintain necessary licensing and credentials.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.* License/Certification: Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer the license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

* Education: Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies from a university program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).* License/Certification: Current Physician Assistant certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Basic knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Act.* Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced practice nursing skills including history and physical, vital signs, and complete charting.* Knowledge of women's health, including well-woman care, pre-pregnancy care, annual exams, and contraception.* Ability to serve a culturally diverse population.* Ability to drive to off-site locations including patient homes and meetings within Potter and Randall Counties.* Ability to use a computer for data entry, word processing, research, patient scheduling, continuing education, and electronic medical records.* Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.* Strong verbal and written communication skills.* Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.* Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.* Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).* Must possess active Medicare/Medicaid Enrollment or be eligible to enroll.
