DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
UW Medicine's Heart Institute is one of only eight elite facilities in the nation to achieve the highest possible score from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients. We perform among the highest volume of heart transplants in the country, with patient outcomes that far exceed the national average. Our groundbreaking research and clinical trials help establish experimental treatments as new standards of heart care.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides expert nursing care to heart failure patients
Systematically assesses the need for and the delivery of nursing services that meet patient care requirements, whether delivered directly or by the other nursing staff
Ability to formulate, coordinate and revise an individualized plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness
Provides care for individual patients over the telephone using the nursing process
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
Integrates patient and family education into the delivery of care, ensuring educational activities are culturally appropriate and are tailored to the patient's and family's ability to comprehend and participate in care
Coordinates the care given by others to achieve efficient clinic operations
Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth and sharing expertise with other team members
REQUIREMENTS:
Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington
At least 2 years of inpatient or outpatient cardiology/telemetry experience
Current BLS
