This position requires providing service to the following age population(s):

18 and above

in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

The Oncology Nurse Practitioner provides quality, patient-centered care to patients in an oncology/hematology inpatient setting, under the direction of collaborating physician, including the following:Managing the care of oncology/hematology outpatients, including assessment of problems, symptom management, and coordination of medical care.Taking complete history and physicals, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic studies, prescribing medications and supplies, writing chemotherapy orders, obtaining informed consent, and evaluating response to treatment.Renews prescriptions for patients upon request.Provides cancer specific education and support to patients and caregivers.Evaluating pre-chemotherapy lab work, performing medication reconciliation, ordering non-chemotherapy infusions, transfusions and fluids and managing infusion reactions.Assists in obtaining third party approval for specialty medications when necessary.Accommodates patients who have been triaged by nursing staff or referred by attending physicians and require visit/intervention on the same day.Manages care of patients who are receiving anti-coagulation therapy/monitors PT/INR results and works with patients to achieve acceptable levels.Utilizes the Einstein Electronic Medical Record system in documenting and managing patient care.

Qualifications

Master's Degree

National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

BLS certification

Experience in oncology or hematology preferred
