Job Description
Under the general administration of the Chair and the Site Director for Psychiatry, this position encompasses professional, supervisory and administrative activities of various degrees of latitude for independent initiative and judgment, and degrees of latitude for complexity and responsibility in providing diagnosis and psychiatric illness and executing corrective therapeutic interventions in collaborations with a psychiatrist and in accordance with written Nurse Practitioner protocols approved by NYS and the institution Medical Board.
Provide Psychiatric care including psychiatric evaluations admissions and follow up in the CPEP under general supervision of the collaborative physician.Perform comprehensive psychiatric history and psychosocial assessmentPerform basic psychiatric interviews to obtain historical information from patient, family and appropriate sources
Minimum Qualifications1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED; and3. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
