The 1:1 School LPN/LVN identifies and treats healthdisorders among students in the school setting. The 1:1 School LPN/LVN providesinstruction for the student's general wellbeing and disease prevention. TheSchool LPN/LVN monitors the student's physical conditions in the school settingand refers the student to appropriate resources as needed. The work of the School LPN/LVN is performedin compliance with his/her LPN/LVN scope of practice and according to stateeducation codes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides first aid care and medically prescribed servicesMaintains security of school health supplies and medicationin the school settingProvides follow-up evaluations on students as requiredCorresponds with parents on health needs of childrenRecords immunizations, health findings, and other relevanthealth dataIdentifies abnormal growth and development, symptoms ofdisease and discuss with parentsDevelops and maintains health records on studentsDevelops positive working relationshipsSupports student medical needs during transport asapplicable
Minimum Requirements:
Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nursepracticesCurrent PPD or Chest X-RayOne year prior professional nursing experience in schoolsetting preferredPediatric experience preferredCurrent BLS cardConsiderable knowledge of medical disorders and treatmentConsiderable knowledge of child growth and developmentSome knowledge of public health problems and procedures fortreatment in coordination with other health and social service agenciesSome knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws andregulations affecting the delivery of school health servicesUnderstands the school organization and the community servedAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency preferredMust be at least 18 years of age
