PRN 1.1 School Nurse (RN)

The 1:1 School Registered Nurse (RN) oversees theapplication of the nursing process and the delivery of student care in a schoolsetting. The School RN provides servicesin accordance with District and Amergis Healthcare's philosophy, standards,policies and physician orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement and evaluatestudent's care needsDemonstrates on each assignment the provision of skillnursing care in accordance with prescribed orders/IHPPerforms interventions, treatments and medications administrationaccording to the identified priorities as outlined in the IHPMonitors and documents effectiveness of interventions,treatments and medicationsCompletes documentation per district expectationsCoordinates and facilitates services as requested betweenthe school, local health agencies and other community resources to meet theneeds of the studentCommunicates with the school district personnel aboutstudent's plan of care/IHPNotifies District School Nurse/Parent/Physician as outlinedin the IHP regarding the following: changes in condition of student and Physician notification to obtainnecessary ordersCollaborates with school/education personnel/other healthagencies as requested to design and meet student's health care needsEvaluates and assures student safety at all timesAdheres to Amergis Healthcare and school districtpoliciesMaintains accuracy in student health recordAdheres to district protocol and policy at all timesAt request of school district participates in student careconference / Individualized Education Program (IEP)Supports student medical needs during transport asapplicable
Minimum Requirements:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicingOne year of school nursing experience, preferredPediatric experience, preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age
