Job Summary

* The Patient Advocate is responsible for ongoing assessment of oncology patients' psychosocial, financial, logistical, educational and informational needs, and use that information to assist them in identifying and utilizing internal and external financial, support and survivorship resources to meet identified needs. The advocate coordinates access to, and utilization of pharmaceutical company co-pay and indigent patient programs; assists with applications and ongoing documentation requirements to ensure continuation of the prescribed treatment plan. The advocate works closely with staff, physicians, the CoxHealth Foundation and the members of the Glauser Oncology Fund Board to identify and act upon opportunities related to grant funding and fund development. Additionally, the advocate must maintain a working knowledge of cancer resource center holdings, activities and processes, assisting with staffing and workload as assigned.

* Required: Bachelor's Degree

* Preferred: Master's Degree in health related field

* Experience* Preferred: Three years social work or case management in health care setting

* Skills* Strong oral and written communication

* Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and able to develop and maintain databases and spreadsheets
