ParamedicDepartment: EMS FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: EMS CoordinatorPosition SummaryThe Paramedic (EMT-P) will carry out all directives given to him/her by the EMS Coordinator and by the Medical Director. He/she will ensure that optimal emergency medical services are rendered to the City of Sundance and in the areas of Crook County for which the service is responsible.Essential Functions▪ Operates and maintains ambulances in accordance with Wyoming state laws and Sundance EMS policy and procedures.▪ Assists in patient care in accordance with SEMS policy and procedure.▪ Effectively and actively assesses his/her abilities and requests assistance as necessary for safe patient care.▪ Attends and participates in at least 80% of all squad meetings and in-service trainings.▪ Maintains a focus on education to include timely recertification's Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD) required education, and other opportunities of higher level education.▪ Exposure to Hazards: OSHA CATEGORY I. TASKS THAT INVOLVE EXPOSURE TO BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR TISSUES. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I Tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I Tasks. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, extreme environmental conditions, high places, fatigue/boredom with shift work. Intense high-pressure situations. Repetitive tasks. Duties may require use of computers, office equipment, and maintenance tools.▪ Other duties may be assigned.Essential Technical/ Motor Skills▪ Ability to speak, write, and understand the English language is required. Must be able to communicate effectively and coherently with members of the public, other emergency response agencies, coworkers and other healthcare employees, and patients and family members face to face and using electronic communication devices. Ability to use critical thinking and hand-eye coordination to perform essential technical job related procedures. Ability to walk, hike, run, climb on, carry equipment and patients on uneven terrain and surfaces both indoors and outdoors. Ability to safely and defensively drive an ambulance.▪ Essential Physical Requirements: Lift and carry greater than 75 lbs. Full range of body motion including: pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, balancing, kneeling, stooping, bending, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. May require static holding in any position with multiple physical activities performed simultaneous with aerobic endurance. Successfully complete functional job analysis.▪ Essential Mental Abilities: Simple and complex reading and writing. Memorization, simple math skills. Perception/computation, judgment, reasoning, decision making analyzing and problem solving. Must exercise considerable judgment and make critical time sensitive decisions.▪ Essential Sensory Requirements: Sufficient sensory function of vision, hearing, touch/feeling, and speech to perform duties.
QualificationsEducation▪ Have and maintain a current National Registry EMT-P and WY-EMS license.▪ ICS 100, 200 and 700 certified within 30 days of employment.▪ Current BLS, ACLS and PALS▪ PHTLSExperienceN/AKnowledge, Skills and Abilities▪ Excellent patient care skills.▪ Professional and discrete manner at all times.▪ Ability to communicate effectively and verbally as well as the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
