Job Summary:

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient.

The RN in Labor & Delivery must have the knowledge and skills with electronic fetal monitoring of the obstetrical patient regardless of gestational age. They must be knowledgeable in the postoperative care of the obstetrical patient, be familiar with newborn care, as well as familiar with neonatal resuscitation.

Education:

Required:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Required:

One- year recent Labor & Delivery experience. Knowledge of general, obstetrical, gynecological, and neonatal nursing principles & practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies, & regulations; knowledge of current trends & new developments; knowledge of principles & practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education.

Preferred:

2 years recent Labor & Delivery experience

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration

Required:

Current licensure privileges to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.

BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and to maintain ongoing thereafter.

NRP and Stable certification within 6 months of hire and maintain ongoing thereafter.

ACLS required prior to completion of departmental orientation and maintain ongoing thereafter.

De-escalation training/certification (example: MOAB) within 6 months and maintain ongoing yearly thereafter.

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Certification in inpatient obstetrics or Women's health field. Nurse expected to obtain within 1 year of

eligibility
