TMCOne-Northwest NeuroSpecialists are currently recruiting for an acute care nurse practitioner to support a well-established neurosurgeon located in northwest Tucson. The ideal candidate will have experience or interest in the neurology world and have the ability to work either 4, 10-hour shifts or 5-8 hour shifts. No weekends or call is required for this role, however you will be required to round on post operative patients at Tucson Medical Center.

SUMMARY:
Delivers primary or specialty care to new and established patients in accordance with the licensure and the highest standards of quality, integrity and compassion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Delivers healthcare in a professional manner that strives to meet or exceed those criteria set forth by NCQA, OSHA, CLIA, JCAHO, as well as the internal standards that seek continuous quality improvements.
Provides service to all new and established patients presenting to the practice who meet the standards for a positive provider-patient relationship. This may include the patient's willingness to follow provider guidance and eligibility with a healthplan, and/or other means to pay for services rendered. Provider must comply with terms of all payor contracts and any other legal requirements concerning discrimination, access to care and the standard of care.
Maintains Medical Records for all services rendered, tests ordered, prescriptions, advice, and communications, in a manner consistent with NCQA, Board of Nursing and other regulatory agencies, diagnostic and procedural coding documentation requirements and the standards of good medical care.
Maintains good standing with the Federal and State agencies avoiding any action that may lead to sanctioning, exclusion or other ineligible status, and will notify employer immediately of any action, notice, or event that could lead to exclusion or the allegation of malpractice. Provider will remain current with all licensure requirements, compliance training, to the Facility Code of Conduct, and other regulations or imperatives both current and as yet undefined.
Completes medical records and submits daily - usually by the conclusion of the day. Ensures that the procedural and diagnostic coding is easily affirmed by the legible documentation in the chart.
Manages staff in partnership with administration. Oversees office flow and makes recommendations for efficiency. (Administration is responsible for hiring, discipline, discharge and time-off requests. Provider and administration will work together to present a cohesive management style.)
Works with Administration to achieve a practice style that meets provider preference, quality criteria and fiscal responsibility. Provider and administrator work cohesively to manage costs and productivity. Provider allows administration to achieve or maintain fiscal responsibility by seeking prior approval for any non-routine supplies, appointment availability or other business decisions not directly related to clinical decision making. Provider works diligently to achieve a productivity standard that allows practice to not lose money and provide sufficient income to run a profitable practice providing quality care. Financial and scheduling decisions must be approved by administration and provider will cooperate to allow this corporate standard to be met.
Remains in compliance with the terms of the contract as well as all clinical and employment-related policies and procedures, terms and conditions.
Neurosurgery:
Must be an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP).
Within the outpatient (office) setting, the neurosurgical NP responsibilities include:
* Evaluating and treating new and existing patients* Obtaining and documenting comprehensive history, performing physical examinations, and conducting other assessment and screening tools, as appropriate* Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with acute and chronic neurosurgical conditions* Performing minor office procedures, including routine wound care, dressing changes, drain removal aspiration of subcutaneous fluid collections for culture or therapeutic purposes, suture/staple removal, shunt evaluation and programming* Prescribing medications, durable medical equipment, and therapeutic interventions
Within the inpatient/hospital setting, the neurosurgical NP responsibilities include:
* Rounding/follow-up care and management of postoperative patients.* Complete perioperative orders for surgical patients (including preoperative and postoperative management)* Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with acute and chronic neurosurgical conditions. This includes new hospital consults and existing inpatients as appropriate.* Obtaining and documenting comprehensive history, performing physical examinations, and conducting other assessment and screening tools, as appropriate* Performing minor bedside procedures or assisting physician with procedures, including routine wound care, drain removal, dressing changes, aspiration of subcutaneous fluid collections for culture or therapeutic purposes, suture/staple removal, shunt reservoir aspiration, shunt programming
Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Obtains a collaborating physician per TMC guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master's degree in Nursing. Nurse Practitioner.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) or more recent years of related experience as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care is strong preferred, but not required.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or must be National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner eligible. Must become credentialed at TMC through the Professional Staffing Office prior to appointment. Must have and maintain a current Arizona state license as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner including prescriptive authority. Must obtain and maintain a current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency License for prescribing controlled substances. Must obtain and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of advanced practice nursing care and assessment best practices.* Knowledge of all requirements of the licensure regarding advanced nursing practice and the continuing professional education and certification of the applicable professional societies.* Ability to build business/clinical relationships with medical staff that benefits TMCH and medical staff as a high priority.* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, such as Code via CPT and ICD-9.* Ability to prepare detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical variances.* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.* Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
